Assignment Two; Task Two - Analyse The Artist

The song we have chosen to make a music video for is the song 'Holiday' by Electric Guest who have a quite peculiar style to their videos previous to their song Holiday. The performers style seems to be casual in a way of fashion sense with no extraordinary clothing in the videos but rather just realistic with jeans and shirts, this seems to make them feel connected to their audiences by being able to look the same as the ordinary person. The group tries to be quite dark and gritty within the lyrics of their songs and videos whilst also trying to keep it upbeat and lively. The music video 'This Head I Hold' shows this in the lyrics with 'Guess i'm in love with always feeling down" [Line Four, Verse One] this shows that he may have an addiction to negativity. On their video of 'This Head I Hold' the video has a dark shade and is about a man who is auditioning for a dancing part however is particularly nervous about it, the video also has a quite humorous parody look to it as it shows dance routines that look quite 'Cheaty' as for example they use strings to hold the performer in the air whilst spinning to show that he is doing a professional dance move.

Electric Guest Lead Facebook Post

The performer of Electric Guest posted this on Facebook stating "I'm tired of my life today. Well, tired of my anxiety towards my life. Some days i feel quite dead inside. Not in a scary way, just hollow." which gives the artist a quite empty depressed look on life.
The group seems to be a quite cheery group with upbeat music whilst being realistic with their lyrics.

Assignment Two; Task One - Music Permission

The track that our group decided to use is the 'Holiday' track by Electric Guest as it is a really good song which has much potential. Electric Guest is an indie rock band and is not very popular which have made a couple of good songs in the past such as 'This head I hold'. The 'Holiday' song doesn't have a music video yet for the band so we could be able to set up a picture of our own of how the video would end up looking like. To use the song we have to ask permission to the band in order to use the song so that we wouldn't be sued for copyright infringement.

Here you can see that i have sent a message to Electric Guest using Google+ asking for permission to use their video.

I have asked for permission for the use of their song in order so that it would be legal to use their song in my videos without infringing any copyright laws.

This is the Audio track of the song that I will be using in my final music video production called "Holiday" by Electric Guest.
